Sinn Féin was founded in 1905. It is the largest party in Ireland with public representatives in all 32 counties, including TDs and Senators in the national parliament and Senate, representatives in the Northern Assembly, European Parliament and local councils. Cork Sinn Féin has had among its representatives the first Sinn Féin Ard Mhéara (Lord Mayor) in Cork City Council Tomás MacCurtain and his successor Terence MacSwiney in 1920.
